The real explanation
Security review struggles when external data movement is scattered across injected clients, helper methods, and configuration that only developers can reconstruct. TPF does not make risk disappear, but declared connector operations, typed mappings, and named bindings make the important questions more searchable: what can cross this boundary, through which provider and operation, under which contract and configuration, and with what ownership?
Compiled contracts and generated metadata can support an inventory of flow shape, platform, and connector boundaries. Runtime invocation and telemetry can then provide evidence about what actually executed, while deployment policy governs what was allowed to execute. Security teams can use that aligned surface to review egress, credentials, tenant handling, and sensitive-data capture. Application teams still own the correctness of their domain behavior and mappings; high-risk paths still need detailed review.
The value is evidence alignment. The authored declaration, compiled contract and metadata, runtime invocation, telemetry, and deployment policy should describe the same boundary rather than five unrelated versions of it. Any gap between them is itself a finding, not something a generated inventory should conceal.
Trade-offs
TPF gains a clearer compliance surface. It gives up the excuse that a boundary was impossible to find.
When TPF is not a good fit
If teams bypass declared connectors for sensitive I/O, no metadata model can provide trustworthy evidence. Enforce the boundary first.
